How to Share Large Photo Folders With Clients
Large photo folders are hard to deliver cleanly. The files are big, clients may be on mobile, and a folder full of numbered images does not help them understand what to do next.
Avoid email attachments and scattered ZIP files
Email attachments fail quickly with large image sets, and ZIP files are awkward on phones. Use cloud storage for the files and a gallery page for the client experience.
Use previews before downloads
Clients should be able to browse previews first, then download the final files they need. This is faster than forcing everyone to download the entire folder before they can see the images.
Separate proofing from final delivery
For proofing, enable likes or favorites and keep downloads off until selections are approved. For final delivery, enable downloads and make the gallery easy to revisit.
Give clients a stable link
A stable gallery link is easier to bookmark, forward, and reference than a folder permission screen. Custom domains are useful when the gallery is part of your public client experience.
Use expiration when access should end
If a folder is only meant to be available for a project window, set an expiration date. This keeps old delivery links from becoming permanent public assets by accident.
